Expanding Stroke Treatment Access Nationally
Improving stroke care access nationwide through public advocacy, sector engagement, and government relations.
Strengthening the Case for National Stroke Reform
Stroke remains one of Australia’s leading causes of death and disability, yet access to timely, life-saving care varies significantly across regions and populations. Stryker sought to bring national attention to these disparities and help shape the policy response.
Salus Advisory supported this effort through targeted advocacy, sector engagement, and communications, positioning Stryker as a credible contributor to the national conversation on stroke treatment access.
The Challenge: Addressing Fragmented Access to Care
Despite clinical best practice and strong health infrastructure, Australia lacks a coordinated national approach to stroke treatment. Stryker aimed to:
• Raise awareness of inequities in access to stroke care
• Influence national policy discussions and priorities
• Build credibility and relationships across the health sector
Approach: Policy Leadership and Sector Engagement
Working with Stryker, Salus Advisory supported:
- Policy development – Contributing to a comprehensive white paper with practical, evidence-based recommendations
- Stakeholder engagement – Supporting collaboration with health organisations and clinical leaders
- Strategic communications – Amplifying the issue through media outreach and a national awareness campaign
- Government relations - Mapping and engaging with decision-makers at state and federal levels to enact change
The Outcome: Greater Influence and Sector Recognition
- Strengthened engagement and strategic partnerships with key policy, clinical, and advocacy stakeholders
- Enhanced positioning as a trusted partner in health reform
- Awarded the Health Industry Hub Catalysts for Change Award (2023) for leadership in advocacy
- Helped lay the foundation for continued policy momentum, now led by the Australian Stroke Alliance
Through this initiative, Stryker reinforced its commitment to health equity and policy-driven reform, playing a central role in advancing access to stroke care in Australia.
